Principal's Message

Principal Flatt
Welcome to South Shore International College Preparatory High School - home of the mighty TARS!
Thank you for visiting our website and taking the time to learn more about our school! Our website is currently under construction so if you need information that you cannot find here, please do not hesitate to email me directly ([email protected]) to ask questions about our school!
As I share this updated message about our website, I find myself working from my home office in this unprecedented time of school closure due to the COVID19 Crisis. The beauty within this crisis is that we have found ways to build community as a school despite the fact that we cannot be in school together.
We are utilizing remote learning to stay connected academically and we are building our collective school presence on social medial with the handle #SSICPHomeTogether. I am so proud of each of our amazing students and all that they have accomplished in the face of constant change because of this international crisis.
We have donated medical supplies to Advocate Christ Medical Center to support our medical professionals who are serving on the frontline to fight the onslaught of this virus. We have created online magazines to demonstrate our student work. And we have joined with the International Baccalaureate schools across the globe in creating and submitting personal projects to continue our pursuit of academic excellence despite not being able to work together within the school building.
We remain excited about activities that anchor our school year such as prom and graduation even if we have to tweak our initial plan. We are creative, resilient and committed to the best school year possible even in the face of challenges. Our amazing staff has exceeded expectations by providing robust projects and online assignments while juggling their own family life. I am so proud of our school community and the myriad ways in which we have remained true to our motto by being fully anchored in excellence!
When I took on the leadership of our school this year, I could not have anticipated the COVID19 pandemic and what that would mean for our school community. The beauty is that leading through this challenging time has allowed me to get to know so many of our students, families and staff in deeper ways than I would have expected within a few months of beginning as principal of our school.
I am so proud of each and every student who has put in incredible effort to make this school year an excellent one in the face of adversity. I am thankful for every teacher who has completely transformed the way in which they normally teach to ensure that all students could continue to engage with content online. I have an incredible amount of respect and gratitude for our cafeteria, custodial, security and engineering staff who kept our school running and served thousands of meals to the community in this great time of need. And I am so excited to have an outstanding Assistant Principal, Mr. Laurel, who keeps students at the center of every leadership move we make as a team.
As a school community, we have all learned to support and rely upon each other. We have exemplified what it means to be a Tar - we have moved together in the synchronized way that a crew of sailors (or Tars) needs to move in order to successfully bring our ship to shore and drop our anchor of excellence.
Please enjoy perusing our website and learning more about our awesome school community! I am so proud to lead this school and look forward to the amazing things we will accomplish in the years to come.
Much Success!

They motivated each other to do their best and also they socialized with kids from all over the city. This is what it's all about.
