hello sophomores and family and I wanted to share with you as far as our gender goes we could a welcome we're going to go over the personal project purpose examples and connection to the IB diploma program go over some timelines do dates and support for students who need it as they work on a personal project on from now until March 21st overview of a personal project when they begin the eighth grade application process and come in through one of three pack weight lifting to come in selective enrollment the IB diploma program and then Career and Technical education or CTE Fears Everybody together in the middle years program MSN the 9th and 10th grade and in the eyes of the middle years program it doesn't mean everything's going to continue on a program but you kind of follow this chart Isaiah continue on into 11th and 12th grade if you think about the texture your major of high school have the most flexibility they can go. they can take some ID class has and some honors and then they can take all the pain for some reason that is honors classes and IB diploma class classy we have our program which is our medical program medical program IB diploma program classes they might take a tell biology or what kind of medical field I'm in the 10th grade the personal project is the culminating the ending project for all middle years program around the world and the interest at a requirement for a burrito they're giving me an option for giving a supervisor here for at South Shore International that guides their work and then come to work at the end of the year this year due to the in the past we had a ton of interesting personal projects we've done on instructional videos cheerleading someone to slam poetry wanted to run that the Chicago marathon and they wrote a training plan and then I was not a very good to them award design dime clothing lines create an apple Beauty project product and so you can do your project within the student code of panda I think a big part of this project Do It Like Flint really passing about it the person that has has three components there is a report that's completed at the end of the personal project which is more of a reflection and the report can be written it can also be an oral T that can be a PowerPoint or it could be a video are the product or outcomes actually turning in at the end of the year or in March it could be it could be proof that you develop the club and it could be whatever the outcome or product of your personal project is so maybe you cook food for some families in your community take pictures and you can upload a personal project the process is a journal and that's all that I manage back if you want to take a second and get a brief overview of the three components so it's really important to think about what could happen in 11th grade IB diploma and you might ask yourself what is the diploma program for it so the program is a integrated curriculum. can write at a college level in some courses and the courses we offer here are I'm Spanish for Mandarin English and it's like a language and literature Middle Eastern Europe studies we have Visual Arts have another option instead of visual art 2-D psychology ba biology and then every not only academics button you're at fault for National last year we had 18 full diploma program Junior which is about 13% of our junior class and this year we have 38 and then your class we are hoping class of 2018 that will have 37% of us school diploma to become full diploma program so when you think about it what does that look like from a student's point of view so if you look at this you everyone takes an English class you be taking 4 years of language in the program class you're taking history of Europe you can see your electives are psychology or Visual Arts and diploma program you can see your math classes and your science classes and instead of PE you get to take theory of knowledge which is a class to talk about what we know ways of knowing how we know it so you might talk about ethical debate and lots of why questions lots of controversial topic and so and we were not going to glaze over that but we want to tell you that students and they do really well you can see grades on over the course of a semester their GPA at the end of the semester and no matter where their grades are have really have grown in this program this is an initiation former students going to get if they're interested in the job of a program and Miss with Casey and I will be going. Chemistry classes next month this is something you might be at home with how does a diploma program student and how it how it is selected and so here are information so they meet or exceed expectations in semester 1 and 2 their classes we're going to talk about their nyp grades in February we're going to do chemistry classes for going to have a diploma program parent session and then we're going to do some programming and completing the person project this is a personal project timeline and if you know personal project is due March 21st and again this is a great place to think about your student and think about what they need a man is back there is a functionality that you can see the handbook for your student progress there's lunch time to take her to Sea mr.
